Theragun (now called Therabody) created the percussion-massage category in 2017. Today they own the brand recognition and most of the mid-to-high-end market. We don't sell Theragun; we make our own massage guns, including one with built-in heated and cooled heads. Here's where each one wins.
The two specs that matter on a massage gun are amplitude (how far the head travels per stroke, in mm — bigger = deeper) and stall force (how much pressure you can apply before the motor stalls). The Theragun Pro hits 16mm amplitude and 60 lb stall force. The Mini hits 12mm/20 lb. Our Aurora gun hits 12mm/30 lb at 3000 RPM.
For home use, 12mm amplitude is the sweet spot. 16mm starts feeling jackhammer-like for most people. Stall force above 30 lb only matters if you're a hands-on bodyworker; for self-massage you're not pressing that hard.
This is the distinctive feature. The Aurora Hot & Cold Massage Gun ships with two attachments that aren't available on Theragun:
If you currently use a heating pad before workouts and an ice pack after, this gun consolidates both into the percussion device — saves time and means you're more likely to actually use it.
Theragun build quality is excellent. Premium plastics, thoughtful ergonomics, the brand's signature triangle handle. Their motors are also notably quieter than the average Chinese-OEM gun — Theragun PRO runs at ~60-65 dB.
Aurora is built well for the price ($200) but doesn't match Theragun's premium feel. ~70 dB at full speed. Battery: ~2.5 hours per charge vs Theragun Pro's 2.5 hours (similar).
PulsePro 30 ($50) is louder (~75 dB) and lighter-built than either. Battery is shorter (~1.5 hours). Materials feel like a $50 product — because it is.

For comparable percussion performance, you're paying about 3-4× more for the Theragun brand premium. That premium gets you better build, quieter motor, more refined ergonomics, and the brand confidence. Whether that's worth $400-$500 extra is your call.
Buy Theragun if: you want the premium brand, your trainer or therapist uses one, you appreciate the quieter motor and refined feel, and the price isn't a deciding factor.
Buy our Aurora Hot & Cold ($199.99) if: you want the heated and cooled head functionality (no Theragun has this), you want comparable percussion at a similar price to the Theragun Mini, and you'd benefit from the heat-cold therapy consolidation.
Buy our PulsePro 30 ($49.98) if: you want a working massage gun at the lowest reasonable price. It's not as quiet, refined, or feature-rich as either Theragun or our Aurora, but the percussion does what percussion does.
